The Tseycum First Nation Land Code

First Nation Land Governance Successes

Welcome to the Tseycum First Nation Land Code information website.

Please check back regularly as our site is being updated with new and important information on how we have regained governance over our lands, natural resources and environment.

As part of Tseycum's ongoing efforts to protect our lands and resources, our community has established the Tseycum First Nation Land Code under the Framework Agreement on First Nation Land Management.  In exercising our inherent rights, we have regained the legal jurisdiction to govern our lands and resources.

The Tseycum First Nation Land Code is our fundamental land law, and was passed by our membership on July 31, 2025.  It replaces the land management sections of the Indian Act as they relate to Tseycum First Nation reserve lands.

Under our Land Code, 44 land management sections of the Indian Act cease to apply to our lands!  Canada no longer makes decisions about our reserve lands, natural resources, or environment.

GET TO KNOW OUR LAND CODE

Tseycum's land code process is entirely community-driven. â€‹

The land code vote is open to all voting members (Tseycum members on & off-reserve, 18 yrs of age and older).

We are working to make sure that everyone is properly informed about the land code and the voting process.

The land code offers Tseycum the opportunity to reclaim jurisdiction over our reserve lands.

We need your help to make this happen! Learn more on our resources page!
